The Minnesota Vikings are actively seeking reinforcements at wide receiver.
According to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, who cited league sources on Wednesday morning, the team is exploring trade options for experienced pass catchers. While no move appears to be imminent, Minnesota is clearly scouring the market.
The urgency stems from a depleted receiving corps heading into the season. Star wideout Justin Jefferson (hamstring) is expected to be ready for Week 1, but depth behind him is shaky. Jordan Addison will miss the first three games of 2025 due to suspension, Rondale Moore is sidelined for the year, and Jalen Nailor is nursing a hand injury on a week-to-week basis.
The question now is what type of veteran target the Vikings are pursuing. A blockbuster deal for someone like Terry McLaurin seems unlikely, given Minnesota’s reluctance to invest in another high-priced receiver — assuming Washington would even entertain trade talks. Tyreek Hill’s name inevitably surfaces in any WR speculation, but a more realistic scenario involves acquiring a complementary piece until Addison returns.
Could Carolina move Adam Thielen for a reunion in Minnesota? Would New England trim its receiver group? If healthy, Allen Lazard might be available from New York, and Cincinnati’s deep WR room — highlighted by Mitchell Tinsley’s preseason performance — could spark interest as well.
Veteran free agents such as Amari Cooper also remain unsigned. Alternatively, Minnesota might wait to see who becomes available after Tuesday’s roster cuts if no suitable trade materializes.
